A week of little to write about

Well, what to write about. I've been getting some mileage on the moped due to very nice weather. The top has been off the Miata most of the time, too. The books & DVD that I had ordered from Amazon.com came. I learned the old Laugh In TV shows are not as meaningful to younger people as they are to me. Since they didn't know the people or situations that are referenced in the show, they often miss the point of the jokes. I guess I hadn't thought about that aspect of the show, but I am enjoying watching the old ones. I haven't yet started reading the books. I have too many started that I need to get through before starting more.

Saturday afternoon was the annual picnic at church and again the weather was perfect. I had a nice time, visiting with friends. Yesterday I noticed no one had signed up yet for coffee hour after church on Sunday, Sep. 10th, so I did. Annie worked pretty hard to get the coffee hour started again there and I sure want to do whatever I can to keep it going. That Sunday fits right in the middle of three family birthdays, so I'll buy a cake at Costco for the occasion. My older son, who's birthday is the first of the three, will be out at sea but the next one is mine and I hope my soon to be six year old grand daughter will come up and join me for the occasion.

There was a chance to maybe get together yesterday with a couple of Blogger friends from Whidbey Island for mochas but it turns out that later will work better. I had hoped to take some photos but that will also have to wait.

I did manage to go on the walk with the men from my park all three times last week. They walk three miles to the hospital and back, stopping for coffee while there, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week. I plan to go again on another walk in a few minutes, this morning. I need the exercise. I bought a cookbook and am starting to look into cooking some things rather than eating out most of the time. I have a couple of friends, including SW, who have offered to be my cooking teacher/advisors so maybe I'll get beyond being able only to cook Papa Murphy's pizza and Nalley's chilli.

This is looking like a busier week with other activities including some with picture opportunities so maybe I'll find it easier to write here during the week. In the meantime I have been enjoying reading blogs of online friends. Keep up the good work!

Comments:
I love Laugh In!

But then, I'm the lady that has to explain who Mae West was to fabric store clerks older than I am. (Not that Mae West is concurrent with Laugh In.)

Dick, I'm telling you...I cannot wait for the day when I can actually say I have nothing happening to write about...lol. This stuff is going to drive me to an early grave...so glad to be on vacation next week, I'm telling you. And I loved Laugh In! I might even buy that one myself. Oh...btw...do you have a birthday coming up next week??????

I love Papa Murphy's. I had it for the first time in the spring, when I went down to Tacoma. I see there is one here in BC, but is about an hours drive from us. I love the vegitarian. Maybe I will make a trip out there one day and stock up!
I am sure Annie appreciates you keeping up with coffee hour.
Why do they walk to the hospital, are they visiting somebody there?

I use to watch Laugh In and have not thought about that show in a very long time.
So you will be getting better next week, that is what I say about birthdays after
a certain age. Just enjoy it. Take care and Hope all goes well with you this week.

Becky, I can envision you doing that. Talk with Justin about what I suggested on your site this morning.

Dorothy, it's on the 10th.

Susan, it is good pizza but their size names don't make a lot of sense. A large is really a medium while a family size is really a large. The hospital is a convenient distance, about 1 1/2 miles. We go to the cafeteria for 50-cent coffee & BSing for about 40 min, then walk back. About an hour 40 min all together.

Ms Vickie, I no longer have birthdays. I just celebrate whatever anniversary it happens to be of my 35th birthday.

I really enjoyed reading about how you spend your time, Dick. You seem to enjoy most of my blogs, so you know that I mostly just write about what's happening in my life. We enjoy learning about your life, too.

I love Laugh-In.

Good Night, Dick. ;D

Thanks for your prayers and sympathy and thanks too for your happy greetings. I'll be back by Wednesday for the Wordless Wednesday.
My sister-in-law was finally put to rest. Cremation took place yesterday. It was a very painful moment for all of us as she was loved by the family. However, when one loves someone, she/he must also learn how to let go.
I would also like to thank you for the happy greetings for my new grandson.
I'll be back Wednesday for the Wordless Wednesday. As of now, my head seems to be floating on air. I can't seem to find my brains anywhere yet.

I never missed an episode of Laugh-In! I loved that show, and Goldie Hawn was my favourite. :-)

I loved Laugh-In, but you're right. It was so topical, you had to know what was in the headlines to "get" it, or at least have some frame of reference from that time period.

Sock it to me!

Sounds like a great weekend, and an event filled week. Blessings on you this day Dick.
