Huggy is home and fine
Huggy came home from the Vet's yesterday and is doing fine. She is a little overweight but I don't know how to put her on a diet, what with the two other cats who live here with her not being on diets. She is up to 16 pounds, from 15 1/2 two years ago. I also have to give her a dose of liquid antibiotic twice a day for six days. She got the first of it this morning and it isn't too bad to do, although not fun. Her doc says her teeth are in good shape. Nice to have my little buddy back in the house with us, but I am not sure how happy Peewee and Molly (our other two cats) are about having her back!

About Huggy
I took Huggy to her Vet a couple of weeks ago for shots and a routine exam. They again told me that she needs to have plaque removed from her teeth so I setup an appointment for today to have that done. They have to knock her out in order to do this so she wasn't allowed to have any food after 8pm last night. She is also going to have her claws trimmed while she is in a more docile mood.
I dropped her off there about 08:30 as they requested and she will probably stay overnight as they don't want her going home until she is fully over the anesthesia. She was ticked off with me this morning and probably will be really ticked off when I finally get to pick her up to come home. I think this will be the first time since she moved in with Annie & I in June, 1998 at the age of about 8 weeks that she has been away overnight. I know that she is "just" a cat but it seemed much like it would to drop off one of my kids when I left her there. I hope she will be okay.

Welcome (almost) to February!
This being the last day of January it seems appropriate to welcome the month of February. Welcome! In our area we have set a record for the warmest January on record and those records go back into the late 1800s, so this is a pretty long standing thing. Our weather guessers are saying they expect February to be warmer and dryer than January was, but it normally is so I'm not sure if it will be quite a bit better than usual or what. I have noticed more hours of daylight and that I like. It will also do well for our home heating bills, although I guess what is good for us here is not so good for others in different parts of the country. Last year we had a very cold, snowy winter while the East Coast was enjoying balmy weather. This year it seems to have flip-flopped. I don't know what next year will bring but I'll vote for another El Nino year like this one, although it didn't get started until about the end of November.
February is also a month with some important birthdays for our family. It starts out with Pat's younger brother on the 4th, then Pat's on the 22nd and my brother's on the 24th. Pat and T have a fun thing of trying to outdo each other with wacky birthday cards but Pat is a little behind since if she goes too far overboard it will catch up as T's BD is first and he has almost three weeks to find an appropriate card. The 22nd also used to be the birthday of George Washington, our country's first President. Pat told her school mates the reason they got a holiday on the 22nd was to celebrate her birthday. We also used to get Abraham Lincoln's birthday off on the 12th. I guess Congress decided it was too much to allow the People to have two holidays in one month. Or there was a lot of pressure from government employees who wanted three day weekends but thought they couldn't get two of them in a month, so they canceled both birthdays and we now just celebrate an office workers holiday on the 3rd Monday. We haven't canceled or moved Pat's birthday- it will still happen on the 22nd.
I've had a few questions about how Huggy is doing. She is fine although we are still having cat wars between our three cats. Huggy and Peewee, the youngest one, have almost made it a game. Molly is still the queen of the house and she tries to just ignore both of the others although they sometimes do get her involved. There are times when they will all three be in the same room and just quietly ignore each other. That is about the best we seem to be able to have happen.

800+ miles on the Prius so far
I thought I'd report back on how the Prius is doing for us so far. We have over 800 miles on it at this point and our average mileage for that distance is right about 51 miles per gallon. I've filled the gas tank and will soon do it again, but it wasn't real low when I filled it. The tank was full when we got the car and I've read that you do not want to let it run out so, not knowing how accurate the gas gauge is, I filled it at only about 3/8 of a tank indicated. Most of our current mileage has been here around town with a couple of short freeway trips of 20 - 25 miles each direction. But, next week we will be driving to Spokane, about 320 miles away, so that will be a good road trip to see how it does on the highway.
So far the only negative we have found is that every time Pat gets out of it, either from the driver or passenger seat, she seems to build up a static charge and gets a spark that is very noticeable when she pushes the door closed. I keep telling her that it just indicates that she is a very electrifying woman but somehow I don't think she appreciates those little (or maybe not so little, according to her) jolts. We did add a static strap that drags on the ground but it didn't seem to help very much if at all. She has a static spray that she sometimes uses on certain clothes like slips and she sprayed the passenger seat with it. That, combined with the static strap, did seem to help. Now we need to see how long it will last. I'll have to post this as a question on the Prius Chat forum that I belong to and see if anyone else has this problem and if so, how did they resolve it.
It does look like our fantastic summer weather is over. We have had some rain over the last couple of weeks and rather than temps in the upper 70s, most days have been in the upper 50s or 60s. Right now we are in a few days of sunshine and daily high temps in the mid-60s, which is sure something we can't complain about. I just kind of hate to see the summer end.
A Blogger friend asked after my last post if I was going to change the name of my blog, now that I don't have an RV anymore. That is something I've wondered about before as Huggy hasn't traveled with us in the RV since we bought this new one in March of 2007, so the name hasn't been totally accurate for two and a half years. I probably should change it, or maybe just stop posting. All of these blogs seem to eventually end and perhaps that time has come for mine. My original purpose for starting it was to keep my family and friends informed of where I was and what I was doing as Huggy and I traveled around the Western United States in the RV. That has all changed, totally. I'll ask those who still bother to check my rare posts what you all think. Should I end it now? Or maybe just rename it and continue with no real direction?

Another week has slipped by
It has been a week since my last post. I don't know for sure just where the time is going but it sure has been flying by. We have been busy but are taking a few days off to head for the Pacific Ocean tomorrow with our RV for a few days. We are members of a membership campground and are driving there to spend three nights in their Ocean Mist campground at Ocean City, Washington. The weather sounds like it will be good with high temps down there in the upper 60s to low 70s and sunny days, which is about as good as it gets on the northern Washington Coast. I'll take my camera and some books but we are leaving the computers at home. We do have kites to take and look forward to flying them on the beach. I'll try to get some photos posted before too long after we get back home Thursday afternoon, but that night is our Mexican Train game night so it will have to wait at least until Friday.
Some have asked about our cats. They are all fine. Miss Molly goes to the vet tomorrow morning before we leave but it is just for her regular checkup. Peewee is sitting beside me on my computer desk as I type this which will work fine as long as Huggy doesn't come into the computer room. We still have Cat Wars going on but I am almost of the opinion that it has become a bit of play for Huggy and Peewee. Most of the time Molly just ignores Huggie's hissing, looks at her and then walks off. Sometimes we will find them lying on the floor just a couple of feet apart, especially in the sunroom. Once we found all three curled up asleep on our bed. At the same time. They will probably all be ticked off with us for leaving them alone while we are gone but Pat's daughter, C, will come by to feed and scritch (pet) them every day. And we hope she'll also water the plants but her first interest is the cats.

News Flash!
Pat and I will be leaving next month with the motorhome to spend about three weeks in sunny Arizona! It will be a mini-Snowbird trip and one that I am really looking forward to. Huggy will stay home with Molly and Peewee. Pat's daughter C will take care of them daily as well as gathering in our mail. We are looking at leaving about Sunday Feb. 3rd and as I said will be away about three weeks, going as far as Tucson.
In preparation for that trip I bought a Xantrex 400 watt inverter that will be installed in the RV this next Wed. It is smaller than the 2000 watt unit I had in the Sea Breeze but this one has a pure sine wave output that will safely power sensitive electronics while the other one was a modified sine wave. We will hook it up to run the entertainment center with an extra outlet to hook up laptop computers, cell phone & camera batteries to charge, etc. It should work fine for our needs. This RV has only 220 amp hours of battery power VS 440 in the Sea Breeze (two big 6v AGM golf cart batteries instead of four of them.) So, if we are dry camping someplace and want to run the microwave we will have to start the generator. Not a big problem.

Our sunroom construction hit a snag. The afternoon that I posted the last post the contractor said we were going to have to pay for a lot of things that were supposed to have been covered in the fee we were paying him, per our agreement with the salesman. The contractor packed up his tools and headed home, since I wouldn't give him any money until the issue was resolved. The next week the salesman told him what was to be covered but by then he was at work on another room in the Portland, OR area. He called me and said he will be back tomorrow to get going again and since it is supposed to be finished within two weeks, it should be by the time we head south. So, I have no other photos to post yet of it's construction. Maybe by Tuesday. Maybe.....

Back to the Hot Rod Cafe
Yesterday (Friday) when we woke up it was only 63 degrees inside the RV. That felt cool until we got up & moving during which time it went up a bit. Breakfast in the rig, then I took Huggy for a walk on her leash. Walking a cat is not like walking a dog. You sort of follow her along and try to steer her to where you hope she will go. She enjoyed the outing.
I had sent out an email request to friends who are gathering here in town for our annual (since last year) old friends get together asking for phone numbers. G had sent a nice list of them but it is at home on my desktop PC & I forgot to print it before we left. I got two answers back in a few minutes and called G to find out what was up for the day.
After that we got in the Saturn (towed car) and drove into Spokane to a real estate office where my selling agent had faxed some paperwork for me to sign & fax back. While driving there we spotted a Chili's Restaurant at the Northtown shopping center which looked like a good place to meet for lunch. We called D, G & my brother L to suggest the place as we left the real estate office and they came to meet us there for lunch.
Pat had found some shoes that she just loves at Macy's at home but they only had one pair & style. She bought them but we walked by a much larger Macy's going into the mall so we stopped to check. They have a large, separate shoe store & they not only had this brand of shoes in many styles but they were on sale! We bought a pair.
We went next to Hastings Book Store at Lincoln Heights for mochas in their Hardback Cafe and of course bought some books. That trip took a lot longer than it does to talk about it. We dropped my brother off at his house, then stopped to pick up D at his sister's house. D & I started Kindergarten together so I've known him a long time. From there we drove to Post Falls, Idaho and the Hot Rod Cafe. When we originally left the rig I didn't realize that we would be gone all day & I didn't have my camera along, so for photos you will have to go to the archives for July of last year. If you haven't been there or saw my photos last year, do go take a look. It is a very unique place.
We dropped two off on our way home & didn't get home until about 21:30. It wasn't long before time for some sleep. This morning we are going to breakfast, just the two of us, then we will be off again with these friends. This time I will take the camera along!

On the road again....
We left home as planned last Tuesday on our first real RV trip, after Pat finished her volunteer shift at the Day Surgery unit in the hospital. We got through the heavy population areas with only two slow downs, at Everett and Bellevue, hitting I-90 just before 15:00. East over Snoqualmie Pass to E & J RV Resort in Ellensburg, WA. This is an RV park connected with Days Inn there and is next door to the Flying J Truck Stop. We walked over to the Saks restaurant at Flying J for dinner. Cable TV was available but we couldn't get a channel that had our baseball game on (the Seattle Mariners.) We did have a good Internet connection over the Verizon Wireless connection.
Up for breakfast at the Days Inn free breakfast that is included with your overnight fee. We got away before 10, stopped for lunch at Templins at Sprague and pulled into Ponderosa Falls RV Resort about 10 miles west of Spokane before 14:00. This is a park within the K/M system that we are members of so we can stay for two weeks with no additional fee, beyond our $280/year dues. Then we would have to be out of the park for a week before we could check back in for another two weeks. Of course we won't be here quite two weeks so it is not a concern. The freeway exit from I-90 to get here is exit #272 in Washington State.
I got us hooked up but cannot find my telephone cord to hook up to the hot phone system. It may turn up when I go digging in the big storage compartment but it isn't as important as it used to be since we both have cell phones and do not need a phone modem connection with the laptop to connect to the Internet. We do have a new water leak, though. There is a steady leak that appears to be coming from some of the water connections at the top of the water pump. This is while connected to city water- I don't know if it will leak when we are not on a water system but are using the pump and water from our own tank.
This is another thing we will need to get fixed by the RV dealer where we bought the rig. I have always heard that there are a lot of little things that have to be fixed when you buy a new rig and we are finding that is true. If you buy a used one someone else has already done all those things. We also still have a little water leaking from the shower and I think it is from the inner door that doesn't have caulking at the ends of the base rail. But it does close now. It is also on the list.
Huggy is doing pretty well but is having to learn her way around this new rig, just as I am. Her kitty litter is in a different location and she doesn't have a basket on the dashboard while we are on the road. We made a stop yesterday at Walmart for some inexpensive towels to cover some of the chairs & let her be on them. We also got her a nice cat bed that came with catnip to rub into it & she does seem to like it.
I think we are going back to the Hot Rod Cafe at Post Falls, Idaho for dinner tonight. There are some photos here on my blog in the archives from July, 2006 when I was there last but Pat hasn't been there. I keep suggesting that we go to Silverwood, the big amusement park north of Cour de Alene and ride the three roller coasters, but Pat says "NO!" The one they call Tremors actually goes through the gift shop and is quite a ride.
So far the weather here has been cooler than normal for this time of the year. Yesterday's high was only 77F and today is supposed to be below 80. Mid to upper 80s are scheduled for the next week and that is fine with us. Pat doesn't like hot weather and considers anything over about 75 to be hot. It did rain quite a bit Wednesday night but I think there is no more expected while we will be here. What did come helped to clean my car which was pretty dirty after being towed 330 miles from home. But I am still looking for a car wash!

I had to change my email address
A couple of months ago Pat & I checked with Verizon, the supplier for both of our DSL accounts, to see what we had to do to keep my email address when I moved to her house. At that time we knew we would close out my DSL account with them but wanted the same email address for me, just moving it to her account. We were told it would be easy when the time came.
The time came today but it turns out they can not do it. It seems crazy. We can have up to 9 email addresses per account so I could create a new one. But they can't move the old one over. The old one has been closed now or at least I was unable to log onto it to get any mail this afternoon. We created another one for me but everyone who has used it will have to change my address in their books. Unless you used the one that was at the Escapees RV club and ended in @escapees.com. I have changed the pointer for it and mail sent there will come to my new address.
If you were using my @verizon.net address, you will need to add the number 1 just before the @ sign. Isn't that dumb?

Huggy has moved to our new house
I hadn't tried to make the permanent move of Huggy to our new house (Pat's house) yet as I was spending quite a bit of each day down at the old house sorting & packing and I felt she would be alone more here than if I left her there. But yesterday son M & I moved most of the things out of that house and took them to an auction house to be disposed of. I then decided that Huggy would be pretty upset at being alone there so about 20:00 hours I moved her.
Molly & Peewee don't seem too upset about it although they are a bit confused. Huggy spent last night under the bed and hissed & growled whenever she saw either of the other two cats and sometimes did it just for general purposes. This morning about 5 she came up on the bed & woke us up. With the continuous meowing & hissy fit she was having there was no possibility of our going back to sleep.
A bit later in the morning she came out into the other part of the house to wander around, again with the same result whenever she saw either of the other two. This afternoon I got her to eat some of her regular food, which she immediately threw up. Later she did keep some of her special canned soft food down and she is drinking water.
For the last hour & a half I have been in the computer room working with my PC and she came in here on her own. She has let me hold her in here and laid for quite awhile at Pat's feet while she was using her PC, until Molly came in. Then the hissing & growling started again. She is now by my feet, keeping a constant lookout on the door into the room and growling every few minutes.
She has been just over 24 hours in our new home. I think she is doing better, at least she is being a bit more like her old self at times, until either Molly or Peewee comes into view. I don't know what she will do tonight overnight but I am sure it will be interesting. More on this saga soon.
Molly & Peewee don't seem too upset about it although they are a bit confused. Progress
Pat & I have gotten most of our wedding invitations mailed and are starting to get RSVPs back on who will be coming. Our original plan was to just go get married. Then it started to grow. Now it looks like this is going to be a pretty large affair. We are hoping for good weather on April 28th so we can use the gazebo outside but if it rains (we DO live in the northwest!) we will move into the clubhouse.
Huggy has been to Pat's house once and it went pretty well. We need to do it more often and try to get the three cats (Huggy, Molly and Peewee) to the point that we can let them get together. That will be the real test. When we tried it I first tried walking Huggy in on her leash and both she and Peewee had a hissy fit when they met. So she went into her pet taxi & was carried into a bedroom to be let out. Pat's two seemed very interested in the door to the room from the outside while Huggy stayed close to it on the inside, so I kind of think they knew they were all there close.
We have been meeting a lot of each other's friends. Today D & J came up from Vashon Island to visit and meet Pat. Last weekend we went to Auburn to pickup my grand daughter, K, and bring her up to spend a few days with us during her mid-winter break from 4th grade. While in Auburn we visited Pat's friends, L & MM who I got to meet. Next Monday my brother, L, will be over from Spokane for a short visit.
I am slowly getting things out of my house. Today J took some of Annie's favorite clothes, things I had wanted her to have as I wanted them to be with someone we know. Annie was a pretty small person and so is J so most of her clothes will fit. Many of the others have already gone to Goodwill. I've been working in the hobby room this past week. It seems to go slowly but I can see some progress. Lots more to go, though.

Photos from Life on Wheels (LoW)
I was busy the first four days I was here parking RVs in their space on the campus of the University of Idaho for the week long Life on Wheels Conference. I finally have some photos from LoW.
This first one shows the "A" lot before the RVs arrived. The two large tents are up and there actually is one RV in place, the one that hauls all the books, shirts, etc. that are sold around from one conference to the next:
This photo shows the same area from a higher viewpoint up by the Kibbey Dome after the RVs were parked. My friend, D S and I were the ones who parked the rigs here. Our own are also in this lot and were parked first. The photo shows some of the spectacular scenery around Moscow:
This is lot "B", the upper part of which is paved while the lower part is gravel. You can see some RVs in the background as we were able to park them in place when they arrived after Thursday morning on lot "B":
This is a photo from about the same location showing lot "B". You can't see too much as the viewpoint isn't high enough to see over them. There are only three spaces left in this lot:
Here is my RV parked in it's space. I have the covers over the windshield that is facing south. These help a lot to keep the heat out as the sun heats them but they are outside the glass. You can see out from inside but not in from outside, except at night when it is darker outside than inside with lights on. The flags are the US, Washington State and US Navy. I was in the Army but son B is in the Navy:
The star of this blog is Huggy, my cat. She likes to explore outside and does so on a rope that her leash is put on. In this photo she is under the back end of the RV checking out the quality of the grass, that she likes to eat. The black thing in front of her is the heavy rubber brush thingey that helps to keep rocks and other road debris from flying up & hitting the Saturn car we tow:
Huggy is standing on the bottom step at the entrance to the RV. You can see a bit of why she is a Russian Blue cat. When the light is just right she almost does look like she has blue fur:
There are activities planned at night here, too. Last night we went to a slide show & talk about RVing in Baja, Mexico. Tonight there was a no-host get together (that means you have to buy your own drinks) at the University Inn. Each year this event seems to get better attendance. This photo is kind of an over view of some of the tables of people who were there on the terrace at the hotel:
This table is the one where I was seated and I am in the picture as J S took the photo with my camera. The guy to my right is D S who I worked with for years at Metro Transit in Seattle. The lady to my left is staying in the hotel as she hasn't bought an RV yet but is here to learn about them. This is a wise move to make before spending quite a few thousand dollars on something you might decide was the wrong type or size for you after you have bought it. Two of the ladies represent a large RV dealership at Junction City, Oregon and the other couples are RV owners who we have gotten to know over the years attending LoW:
There was a multi-media presentation tonight after the get-together on traveling by RV to Alaska. I didn't make it as I stayed to talk too long, then wanted to get these photos ready to post & the post made. I also made a run to Winco Foods, a store here I really like to shop in. I wish we had one in Mt. Vernon. It is now 00:30 so I must get this posted, then to bed. I want to be up in time to attend a double session tomorrow morning on digital photography that starts at 08:00. I'll get more photos & post them through the week. Good night for now.

I arrived at Life on Wheels
I arrived at the University of Idaho in Moscow yesterday about 13:20, after stopping in Pullman, WA for gas for the rig. The price there was $3.039 per gallon. We won't have electric power available to hook up to until Saturday morning and the generator in the rig won't run if the tank level is below one quarter full. Since my gas gauge doesn't work any more I wanted to make sure I had at least that much. I didn't fill it as it would probably just run out when it heats up over the weekend, and the pump shut off at $75, too.
I guess it rained here, a short but fairly hard shower, not long before I arrived and the chalk marks on the paved parking lot surface were washed off. So, one of my first duties was to help re-mark the parking spaces. Once that was done there was not too much else to do except park the few early rigs who arrived yesterday. Most will come today and tomorrow. We ourselves are just parked on the car parking area as no one can get into the "A" lot until sometime later today. The A lot is grass and more comfortable to be on, especailly if it gets hot. The forecast is for low 90s tomorrow & high 90s on Sunday, with possible rain showers again on Monday.
Right now it is nearly 07:00, I have finished breakfast, just started the generator to brew coffee and am writing this post. The sun is shining, the temp inside the rig when I got up was 53 so I burned a little propane to run the furnace to take the edge off. It will be plenty warm later in the day. Huggy is again getting used to being in the RV. She seems to enjoy all the windows and where we are parked now we have a pasture in front of us & she can see for miles out over a valley. Once we get into our A lot space I will put out her cat run rope and she can spend some time out in the grass, with the awning up to help keep the rig cooler by shading it, & her cat run area. My coffee is ready, so I'll end & post this, then relax & drink coffee while I can. We start work at 8.

A car show and a parade
Yesterday the Nostalgia Car Club from the Yuma Foothills held their annual car show at the Fry grocery store parking. My cousin, J, is active in the group & he recruited me to help setup. Cars started showing up about 15:00 and there ended up being a lot more than at last years show when rain was a possibility.
J's car is kind of unique. It started as a 1958 Fiat 600, a small car with four seats and a 22 hp engine in the rear trunk area. It now has a 4-clyinder 140 hp Audi engine & 5-speed transmission, with the engine mounted behind the front seats where the back seat used to be. It is quite a different car now with a lot more performance. Here is an external view of the car:

When I got out of high school I installed an Oldsmobile V8 engine in my 1938 Chevrolet sedan. This 1938 Chevy pickup brought back a lot of memories of my college era car that I built myself, with help from friends:
This next car is a kit car but a very well done one. It is a replica of a Shelby AC Cobra. This one is powered by a 428 cu in V8:
After college when I started my first job, I bought a Triumph TR4 sports car. Mine was a white 1963 model with disk rather than wire wheels. This one is almost identical, except it is a 1962 model. I have an exterior view of this in the parade that was held on Saturday but this is a view of the interior:
This post is getting kind of long so I'll hold off on the parade photos and a couple of others I took around my lot here, but I do have a couple of others I want to add today. Here is a closeup of one of the oranges on the tree next to my RV. I have a 90mm micro lens for my digital Nikon SLR camera and these two photos were taken with it. Here is a fairly close view of the orange:
Here is another photo of my traveling companion, Huggy. She was sitting on the bottom step of the RV looking out into the sunshine so the pupils of her eyes are really closed down to a small size:

Superbowl today, with the Seahawks?
Today is the big game day and, for the first time the Seattle Seahawks will be there. We are having a Superbowl party at one of the 5th wheel rigs this afternoon. I learned yesterday at Happy Hour that there are a lot of people here from Ohio so I think my rooting will be in the minority. I should have ordered a cake decorated with some Seahawk logos to take!
I am a couple of days behind here. Our shopping trip Friday to the Tyson Wells display area was productive for me. I found a red British double decker bus that is selling food, and they make MOCHAS! You can get them either hot or cold and they are good, for $3.50, tax included. L had bought a Bushnell binocular set at a booth there the day before & I found them easy to use. A good pair of binoculars is something I have been thinking of buying, so I did. They were $150 plus tax and I later found them a little cheaper on the Internet, but I have these now. I can't pass up an opportunity to buy a good flashlight & another booth had lots of them, so I bought a couple more 9-LED units. Sons, guess what you may get for your birthdays!
We did go to Dairy Queen for lunch, then back to Paul's bookstore so our gals could see him & buy bookmarks for friends and family. What a gift those will be! After a couple more stops (Darlene's Bakery, this time for a coconut cream pie for that night) we got home just in time for the Happy Hour at 16:00. Right after that we headed out for the Grubsteak where they have a feast of all you can eat fish & chips on Friday night. It was good and there was plenty to eat. When back we went to the big bonfire to visit awhile, then to J's motorhome for the pie followed by a visit to J & K's Bluebird to see the inside of it. J is a private jet pilot and the driver's compartment of the Bluebird looks a lot like a cockpit of an aircraft, with all it's dials & controls.
On Sat J & K, along with L, left for home in Santa Barbara about 07:20. J and then B & K were away for Parker by noon. I puttered around the RV until mid-afternoon when I went back to Tyson Wells for another mocha from The Big Red Bus and some shopping at the Roadrunner Market, then home for Happy Hour at 16:00. For anyone heading this way the selling at Tyson Wells continues to the 12th. I spent the rest of the evening at the rig and I finally did get much of my vacuuming done. I think I could have built another cat with all the fur Huggy has shed!

A hot day and propane
It is just after noon as I start writing this and the outside thermometer is already up to 80. There is a slight breeze so it actually feels pretty good.
Huggy and I made a run into town this morning with the motorhome to fill our propane tank. It took 11.7 gallons at a cost of $22.80. I think it is a 18 or 20 gal tank but you can only fill it to 80% so we still had some but now won't have to worry about it. When boondocking the fridge is always running on propane & I didn't want it to quit on me due to running out of propane.
Before we left Boomerville I left my desktop PC & the new hard drive with J. He had it installed when I got back & it was formatting. It is a 330gb unit so that takes awhile to do. With it and the original drive I will have 570gb of hard drive storage in the machine, plus an external 120gb drive for backups, etc.
I relocated the rig to a different spot when we got back as we were kind of up there alone. As people have left those of us still here have moved in closer, kind of circling the wagons. It should be fun. I also have a photo that was taken last night at Silly Al's Pizza of our table group. When I get the desktop PC back I will transfer it there from the little camera, reduce it and send it off to Flickr so I can put it into a new post here later.
Now to go meet the new folks who just pulled in.

I'm on the road again!
I didn't get away as early yesterday as I hoped to but didn't find the traffic too bad and was checked in & hooked up in the Auburn Eagles RV park by 16:35. The weather yesterday was good, dry all day and actually some sunshine at times. So far the only things I have found that I forgot to bring was the frozen food from the home freezer. A trip last night to Safeway solved that one. I haven't tried to put up the satellite dish for TV but can get acceptible reception of the network stations from the regular antennae here. The cell phone card is working fine with a good strong signal so I've spent some time on the Internet.
It really seemed odd to sleep alone in the rig last night, my first night without Annie there. Huggy also seemed confused and didn't spend most of the night on the bed like she used to do, but part of that might have related to her prefering to lie on the carpet in front of the electric heater!
We got up about 8 this morning to rain, quite a bit of it. W came by about 10:30. He was the original owner of the handicapped electric cart we bought for Annie from D & J in 2002 and when he learned I wanted to sell it he wanted to buy it back. We loaded it in his car, he paid me and headed off with it. I don't have enough room for it, nor do I need it so it is good that it is back to him.
Then I was off to the bank to deposit money and meet friends from Annie's Beta Sigma Phi chapter for lunch. That was a nice couple of hours, then back home to spend some time with Huggy before leaving at 15:00 to see J who used to live across the street from us while we were in Auburn. She has recently moved into Parkside, an assisted living place where Annie's Mom spent the last 14 months of her life. I picked up grandkids, J & K, at 16:30 and we drove to Denny's for a nice dinner.
Now I am home to try to update this blog with the first couple of days of my trip. I plan to be on the road about 9 tomorrow after getting gasoline & propane, to drive to Eugene, OR.

I picked up grandkids, J & K, at 16:30 and we drove to Denny's for a nice dinner.
Now I am home to try to update this blog with the first couple of days of my trip. I plan to be on the road about 9 tomorrow after getting gasoline & propane, to drive to Eugene, OR.

The RV is nearly ready to go
I have quite a few of the things I am taking along already carried out to the RV, but I am sore. I guess that is more physical work than I am used to, carrying things out there and putting them away. A lot of what is left are things like cameras and computers that I don't want to leave in it overnight with the heat down low, and fresh food for the fridge which is cooling now. Although is is probably only in the low 40s outside so it really doesn't have to cool very much. I kind of wonder if I really need the desktop computer as well as the laptop but it is probably better to have more than I need than wish I had brought it. One advantage of a motorhome is there is quite a bit of space available to load my "stuff" into.
Huggy gets nervous when I start carrying so many things out of the house. I am not sure if she thinks we are going away in the RV or just worries that she may be left home alone. She is a good traveler and seems to like it when we get going and I know she also likes warm dry weather better than cold and rain, even though she only goes outside on a leash. We do it more when the weather is good as both of us are more comfortable.
Well, it is off to bed so I can get up tomorrow and finish the packing job. I hope to be away by about noon so I can get through Seattle in the early afternoon, before traffic gets too bad.
